The Intermediate Ladies Footballers played in the Intermediate final on Saturday against Shannon Gaels in Coolmeen. They got off to a great start in the first half and took the lead after five minutes into the game. They maintained their lead for most of the first half but two goals by The Gaels before half time put them ahead at the break. The Clooney Quin girls were not able to withstand The Gaels pressure in the second half but never gave up. The girls put in a very strong performance but Shannon Gaels were the comprehensive winners on the day. 

The Clooney Quin Intermediate ladies footballers have made it through to the Intermediate Ladies football final. This game will be played this Saturday ,27th September, in Coolmeen at 2:15pm. The girls will be up against Shannon Gales who have tried for the last three years to get their hands on this trophy. This is their fourth intermediate final in four years and they will be eager for a win. The Clooney Quin girls will hope their experience of playing senior league this year will stand to them this Saturday. The very best of luck girls!!!!!!

The Senior Ladies are set to play Cooraclare in Cooraclare this Easter Monday at 11am. This is their second outing of the year. Good Luck to the Ladies.

Fergus Rovers 2-8  Clooney Quin 1-6 that was the Final Score of the Senior Ladies Football first outing of 2011. In deed it was a great start in this higher level of Division 1, against what would be imagined a much stronger Ferus Rovers Team. With only the bare 15 players, Clooney/Quin put on a great show on Sunday morning last April 10th. As reported in this week's Clare People and Clare Champion:

Trainers and Mentors: Peter Sheehy, Liam Kitson, Pat Gardiner, Martha Deegan and First Aider, Marie Kennedy were all present to watch a good dsplay of football and a great display of pride and determination from the Clooney Girls. With 3 more matches to be played in the league, there is much to look forward to in the coming months.

In the opening round of the Clare Ladies Intermediate Football championship, an understrength  Clooney  Quin suffered a defeat at the hands of Shannon Gaels.

The was played in Lissycasey last Sunday under typical summer conditions of heavy rain. Clooney Quin started well with scores from Sharon Quin and Saidbh Corbert, but the more experienced Shannon Gaels ran out easy winners in the end.

Clooney Quin next game in the championship is against old rivials Newmarket on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
