Clooney National School qualified for the final of Division 5 of the primary schools hurling competition with a thrilling 6-6 to 4-10 win over Mountshannon National School on Tuesday.

In perfect conditions, Clooney led by 1-2 to 0-3 after a tense first half. The second half saw an increase in tempo and some great hurling during which Clooney built up a lead on several occasions only for Mountshannon to peg them back each time.
With only 2 minutes left Mountshannon goaled to lead by a point. But a late free from Andrew Considine to level matters forced the match into extra time with the scores tied at Clooney 4-5 Mountshannon 3-8.

A goal from a penalty and one from play helped Clooney to squeeze through to the final where competition favourites Clonmoney will be their opponents.
